from Volkslieder (Folksongs)
Translation by Richard Wilhelm (1873 - 1930)

Gruss in die Ferne
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Chinese (中文)
Im Flusse ist Lotos,
Im Weiher sind Blumen --
Viel duftende Blumen,
Die wollt' ich dir senden
Ins ferne Land.

Ich denk' an die Heimat,
Durchspähe die Wege --
Die endlosen Meere
Nach deiner Hand.

Im Herzen vereint,
Auf Erden geschieden --
So grausam geschieden:
Das klage ich -- bis an
Des Lebens Rand.

Confirmed with Chinesisch-Deutsche Tages- und Jahreszeiten , Outlook Verlag, reprint of 1922 edition, page 61.
