La fée des neiges m’est apparue :
Oh ! quelle blanche vision !
Si blanche qu’on la voit à peine,
Je l’ai vue ! Près des précipices sans fond,

A mes yeux elle s’est dressée ;
Des flacons blancs lui faisaient cortège,
Mais elle était plus blanche
Que la neige immaculéee !

Et sa voix m’a parlé :
“J’ai pitié de ta souffrance,
Et veux t’épargner la désespérance
Que t’apporterait un amour blessé ;

Fuis celle que ton rêve implore,
Fuis s’il en est temps encore,
Fuis sans attendre une nouvelle aurore,
Et demain sois loin de sa route !

Tu crois qu’elle peut aimer ?
Écoute: J’ai pris son cœur 
Et j’ai mis pour le remplacer
La neige la plus froide de mes glaciers !"

La Fada de les Neus se’m va aparèixer:
Oh! Quina visió més blanca!
Tan blanca que gairebé no era visible,
Però la vaig veure! A prop dels precipicis sense fons,

Es va alçar davant dels meus ulls;
Flascons blancs formaven el seu seguici,
Però ella era més blanca
Que la neu immaculada!

I la seva veu em va parlar:
«Em compadeixo del teu patiment,
I vull estalviar-te la desesperació
Que t'aportaria un amor ferit;

Fuig de la qui el teu somni implora,
Fuig si encara hi ha temps,
Fuig sense esperar una nova albada,
I demà sigues lluny del seu camí!

Creus que ella és capaç d'estimar?
Escolta: li he pres el seu cor
I en el seu lloc hi he posat
La neu més freda dels meves geleres!”
