Hab' Singen für mein Leben gern,
hallt's froh durch Feld und Tann';
drum ärgert's mich, daß gerade auch
mein Schatz nicht singen kann.
Das schönste Liebeslied aber
soll er endlich lernen mir,
am Abend schon probiert er's brav
vor meiner Kammertür.
Ich glaub', er lernt's sein Lebtag nie,
die Nachbarn johl'n und schrein,
drum in die Kammer nehm ich schnell
den armen Tropf herein!

el meu estimat no sàpiga cantar.
La més bonica cançó d’amor però
ell me l’ha d’ensenyar,
al vespre ho prova decidit
davant la porta de la meva cambra.
Crec que no aprendrà mai en tota la seva vida,
els veïns es queixen i criden,
per això al pobre beneit
el deixo entrar prest a la cambra.
