Voll Verlangen irrt und bangt,
Und durchglüht vom Himmelswonne
Sterbend ihr am Busen hangt;

Wie die Sonnenblume richtet

Und nicht eh'r auf sie verzichtet
Bis ihr eig'nes Auge bricht;

Wie der Aar auf Wolkenpfade
Sehnend steigt in's Himmelszelt
Und berauscht vom Sonnenbade
Blind zur Erde niederfällt:

So auch muß ich schmachten, bangen,
Späh'n und trachten, dich zu seh'n,
Will an deinen Blicken hangen

i candent de delícies celestials,
morent, resta suspès al seu pit;

com el gira-sol que adreça
el seu rostre vers el sol
i no renuncia a ell
fins que els seus propis ulls s’apaguen;

com l’àliga que per la sendera dels núvols,
delerosa, s’enlaira vers la volta del cel
i inebriada per el bany de sol,
cau cega a la terra:

així jo haig de llanguir, angoixar-me,
sotjar i intentar de veure’t,
vull aferrar-me al teu esguard
