My inclination is set on you alone, On you and on no one else; I think of you when the sun is shining And when the stars travel their courses. And if I now and then gaze Into other eyes, brown and blue, You must not fret about it And take it amiss. And if to merry fiddle sounds I swing maidens, Slender and light, about, Then I think to myself: not a one of them Can hold a candle to my beautiful one. And if I kiss a pair of red lips, Then it occurs for no other reason But that when I am far away [from you], I do not forget how to kiss.
