Ah, how so lovely it is to ramble through woods and fields, There the radiant, enticing world shines sunnily for us! Joys and sorrows, the fruits of life, they ripen Gloriously down here, swelled by the breath of spring! Out, out Of the confining, the musty house Out into the radiant springtime! Christ has risen, the earth gave Him back to us, Round about the laments of sorrow and agony disappeared. Thus from the dead, Springtime, a saviour of blossoms And songs, rises from the ground with a sunny beam! Out, out Of the confining, the musty torment Out into the radiant springtime! Brethren, onward now, and let us wander joyfully and merrily Through the lovely splendour in love and in jesting. Let songs and roses adorn our hats and our hearts, Let us kiss and caress that which is made for kissing and caressing! Out, out For how soon the joy of May is over, Out into the radiant springtime!
