Für all die lustigen Dinge, die ich treibe? 

Ihr irrt euch, Freunde! Da ich jugendlich 
Und allzu ernst war, -- damals war ich alt.

Jetzt ist mein Haar ergraut, -- doch bin ich nun 
So jugendfroh wie ich noch niemals war.

Hold ist die Jugend dieser späten Tage, --
Jünglinge, nehmt in euren Kreis mich auf!
