Nun guck dir nur den Mond mal an!
Wahrhaftig ja! da steht ein Mann!
Die Welt wird immer bunter!

O Mutter, das ist doch nicht schön,
so Nacht für Nacht im Mond zu stehn!

Stünd ich da oben und wär der Mann,
ich legte fix die Leiter an
und käme wieder runter!

The man in the moon

Now just take a look at the moon!
Truly, indeed! there stands a man!
The world gets ever odder!

Oh mother, but that is not nice,
to have to stand in the moon night after night!

If I were standing up there and were that man,
I would quickly set up a ladder
and would come down again!
