by Anna (Nuhn) Ritter (1865 - 1921)

Wandervogel
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Grüßend schwenkt er seine Mütze
Übern Zaun und ruft "Ade",
Schaut zum letzen Mal herüber
Nach dem Fleck, darauf ich steh'.

Dann verhallt die frohe Stimme
Und die Ferne spinnt ihn ein,
Ihm vorauf auf allen Wegen
Fliegt der goldne Sonnenschein.

Wandervogel in der Mütze
Denkt noch nicht an Nesterbau'n,
Winkt und lacht mit Schelmenaugen
Hierhin, dorthin übern Zaun.

Confirmed with Anna Ritter, Gedichte, Neunte Auflage, Stuttgart: J.G. Cotta'sche Buchhandlung Nachfolger, 1900, page 119.
