Herbstausgang
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nur spärlich bleicher Sonnenschein,
die Herbstzeitlose welkt am Rain;
die Welt ward grau, die Welt ward leer,
kein Vogelsingen hörst du mehr.
In dicker Luft verschwelt der Rauch.
Nebel geisten um Baum und Strauch.

The end of autumn
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Only sparse, pale sunshine,
the autumn crocus is wilting along the marge;
the world turned grey, the world became empty,
you no longer hear any birdsong.
In the turgid air the smoke dissipates in smouldering,
mists move ghost-like around trees and bushes.
