The end of autumn

Only sparse, pale sunshine,
the autumn crocus is wilting along the marge;

the world turned grey, the world became empty,
you no longer hear any birdsong.

In the turgid air the smoke dissipates in smouldering,
mists move ghost-like around trees and bushes.
