Auf der Strasse und in allen Fabriken Hinter den neidischen trostlosen Mauern Schnurren dumm und tückisch die vielen Maschinen, Singen das Fabrikantenlied vom Geldverdienen. Es wird nicht lange dauern, Dann werden die Autos noch böser aus ihren Grellaugen blickten, Noch lauter und wüster aus ihren Hupen brüllen, Die Luft noch dichter mit Staub und Dampf Und unsre Herzen noch dichter mit Haß erfüllen, Und dann geht es los, dann endlich beginnt der Kampf! Wütend greifen uns an die Maschinen, Drücken uns brüllend an die zementenen Wände, Rennen uns um, überfahren uns Köpfe und Hände, Sind stark wie der Teufel, doch wehe ihnen! Sie bestehen ganz und gar aus Verstand, Das macht dumm und flach, es fehlt diesem Vieh Ganz an Torheit und Liebe, an Traum, Musik, Phantasie! Gleich ihren Schöpfern und Herren kommen sie Viel zu happig und schnell und witzlos dahergerannt, Und das wird ihr Verderben. Bald haben wir Menschen die Oberhand, Und die ganze verfluchte Mechanik muß sterben. Maschinen, Rechenschieber und Fabrikanten, Wir schlagen sie alle in Fetzen und Scherben, In ihren eigenen Rädern krepieren die klugen Erfinder, Werden zertrampelt vom sterbenden Elefanten. Singend bleiben übrig wir Menschenkinder, Pflanzen Bäume über den öden Ruinen, Tanzen noch lang auf dem Grab der dummen Maschinen.

Als carrers i a totes les fàbriques darrere els mesquins, desolats murs brunzeixen, estultes i pèrfides, les nombroses màquines, canten la cançó del fabricant sobre com guanyar diners. No trigarà gaire i aleshores, encara més malèvols, els autos esguardaran amb els ulls enlluernadors, braolaran encara més fort i més caòtics amb llurs botzines, ompliran l’aire més densament de pols i fum i els nostres cors més densament d’odi, i aleshores es desfermarà, aleshores començarà finalment la batalla! Furioses, ens atacaran les màquines, bramulant ens empenyeran vers els murs de formigó, ens tiraran a terra, ens aixafaran els caps i les mans, són fortes com el diable, però ai las! Estan formades totalment de raó, i això les fa estúpides i superficials, aquestes bèsties estan completament mancades de ximpleria i amor, de somnis, de música, de fantasia! Igual com llurs creadors i amos arriben corrents, massa impetuoses i de pressa i sense gràcia i això serà la seva perdició. Aviat els humans tindran la supremacia, i tot el maleït reialme de la mecànica ha de morir. Màquines, regles de càlcul i fabricants, els farem fora tots a trossos i esquinçalls, en llurs pròpies rodes els llestos inventors la dinyaran, seran esclafats pels elefants morents. Cantant, romandrem nosaltres éssers humans, plantarem arbres damunt les desolades ruïnes, ballarem encara molt temps damunt la tomba de les estúpides màquines.
