Aleer het licht ten avond raakt
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
     Te lucis ante terminum...

Aleer het licht ten avond raakt,
o Schepper aller dingen, waakt
en zorgt voor ons, die al den tijd,
- wij bidden u, - bermhertig zijt!

Voor droomgedrochten, die 't verstand
verbazen, berge ons uwe hand;
en 's vijands onraad, ingesnoerd,
ons lichaam late onaangeroerd!

o Vader, in uw mildheid groot,
met God den Zone, uws zelfs genoot,
die eeuwig God zijt, Heilig Geest,
vertroost ons al, van minst tot meest!
