Im Sturme

Ich ging im Sturme durch den Wald,
Da rauscht' es in den Zweigen,
Ein Jauchzen war's, ein Donnern bald
In stolzer Wipfel Neigen.
Wie's oben braust
Und mich umsaust,
Begann ich selbst zu singen,
In Sang und Klang
Aus tiefem Drang
Mit Sturms Gewalt zu ringen.

"Du kommst gewandelt, heil'ge Macht,
Mit starkem Wehn und Weben,
Fährst nieder in des Waldes Pracht,
Daß seine Wurzeln beben.
Mit deinem Hauch
Triffst du mich auch,
Daß mir die Seele zittert,
Von deinem Geist,
Der schaffend kreist,
Fühlt sich mein Herz umwittert.

Doch wenn dein Arm auch Wälder beugt,
Ich will vor dir nicht wanken,
Ich bin aus deiner Kraft gezeugt,
Weltwesen ohne Schranken.
Wenn du mich schaust,
Sieh, ob mir graust
In deinen hohen Wettern,
Mag auch dein Blitz
Vom Wolkensitz
Der Felsen Bau zerschmettern."

Bald schwieg der Sturm, die Wolke riß,
Ich sah es blau sich malen,
Und durch des Waldes Finsterniß
Erging ein goldig Strahlen.
Nur flüsternd wob,
Nur leise hob
Sich noch ein sanft Getriebe,
Mein Herz doch schlug
Noch laut, es trug
Die Sturmessaat der Liebe.

En la tempesta

Travessava el bosc en la tempesta,
el brancam mormolava,
era un  crit d’alegria, aviat un tro
féu vinclar les altives capçades.
Mentre a dalt la tempesta bramulava
i brunzia al meu entorn,
vaig començar a cantar,
amb el cant i el ressò,
d’un profund impuls,
a lluitar contra el poder de la tempesta.

“Tu arribes avançant, oh poder sagrat,
amb un fort ventejar i fluctuar
davalles a l’esplendor del bosc
per fer tremolar les arrels.
Amb el teu alè
em colpeges també a mi,
per fer tremolar la meva ànima,
del teu esperit,
que creador giravolta,
el meu cor se sent envoltat.

Però encara que el teu braç faci vinclar els boscos
no flaquejaré davant teu,
del teu poder vaig ser engendrat,
ésser del món sense límits.
Quan tu m’esguardis,
mira si m’esglaio
per el teu fort bramular,
encara que el teu llamp
des de la seu dels núvols
destrossi l’estructura del rocam.”

Aviat emmudí la tempesta, s’esquinçaren els núvols,
vaig veure el cel pintar-se de blau,
i a través de la foscor del bosc,
aparegué un raig daurat.
Només xiuxiuejant es mogué,
només silenciós s’enlairà,
encara un suau bellugueig,
però el meu cor bategava
fort encara, portava
la llavor tempestuosa de l’amor.
