by Theodor Heß-Füssli (flourished c1865)

Nachts
Language: German (Deutsch)
Durch die stille, weite Welt
Zieht ein Engel friedlich milde,
Gießt des Himmels heil'ge Ruh'
Auf das schlafende Gefilde.

Ob dem dunkeln Tannenwald
Rauscht die Nacht mit ihren Schatten,
Und es legt ein leiser Duft
Breit sich auf die weiten Matten.

An dem hohen Himmelszelt
Wallt das lichte Heer der Sterne,
Und der Erde Nachtgebet
Steigt empor zur stillen Ferne.
