Advent
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Wie nun mein Herze brennt
in deiner Sterne Schein!
Gegrüsset sollst du sein,
du seliger Advent!

Die Berge stehn voll Schnee,
die Häupter hoch in Pracht;
voll Singen liegt die Nacht:
Hosanna in der Höh!

Hosanna fern und nah,
in Tälern tief verschneit.
Machet die Tore weit:
der Herr, der Herr ist da!

Allstund mein Herzenstür,
sie soll dir offen sein.
Eia, Christkindelein,
kehre ein bei mir!

Confirmed with Adolf Holst, Gen Abend. Neue Gedichte, Berlin, Oldenburg & Co., 1921, page 46.

Advent
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
How my heart now burns
in the radiance of your stars!
Greetings to you,
you blessed time of Advent!

The mountains are full of snow,
their peaks high in splendour;
the night lies full of singing:
Hosanna on high!

Hosanna far and near,
in valleys covered in deep snow.
Open wide the gates:
the Lord, the Lord is here!

The door of my heart shall be
open to Thee at all times.
Ah, little Christ-child,
Come into my heart!
