Zakazala jej, prikázala jej:
Nechod' deéro ku mne!

Ja sa, udelám ptáčkom jarabým,
Poletím k mamičke.
A sadnem sitam na zahradečku,
Na bielu laliju.

Vyjde mamička: čotoza ptáčka,
čo tak smutne spieva?
Ej, hešu, ptačku jaraby,
Nelámaj laliju!

-Ta daly ste mňa za chlapa zlého
Do kaja cudzieho;
Veru mne je zle, mamička milá,
So zlým mužom byti.

Weit aus der Heimat aus.
Streng sagt die Mutter: Folg' deinem Gatten,
Komm' mir nicht mehr nach Haus!

Wird' mich verwandeln wohl in ein Rebhuhn,
flieg dann zu Mutters Haus.
Flieg in den Garten, sitz auf der Lilie,
singe und ruh' mich aus.

Hört mich die Mutter: Singt da ein Vöglein
Traurig und wunderbar.
Weg, weg du Vöglein, Weg, weg du Rebhuhn
brichst  mir die Lilie gar.

Habt mit dem Gatten, mich mit dem schlechten,
weit in die Welt gesandt.
Ach, liebe Mutter, nun muss ich weinen,
ferne vom Heimatland.
