Jeg vilde sadle min vælige hest,
sprænge afsted til min bryllupsfest.
Foran mig skulde du kneise, min skat,-
inat !

Jeg skulde synge min stoltest sang,
jeg skulde kryste dig tæt i mit fang,
spore min ganger og svinge min hat,-
inat !

Messed da gjøgen med gyldensvans,
lun var da natten som ved sanktehans,
majgræsset hvisked, og bjerken sprat,-
inat !

Redte i mosen jeg da vor seng,
tog vi så ekorn til brudedreng.
Så holdt vi bryllup, min dyreste skat,-
inat !

Je voulais seller !

Je voulais seller mon cheval fougueux,
foncer à toute bride pour mes noces.
Il te fallut, devant moi, porter la tête haute, mon trésor,
cette nuit !

Je dus entonner mon chant le plus superbe,
je dus t'étreindre, serrée dans mes bras,
éperonner mon coursier et agiter mon chapeau,
cette nuit !

Le coucou à la queue dorée chantait,
la nuit était tiède, comme à la Saint Jean,
l'herbe de mai chuchotait et le bouleau bourgeonnait,
cette nuit !

Nous fîmes notre lit là, dans la mousse,
nous prîmes des écureuils comme garçons d'honneur.
Ainsi avons-nous célébré nos noces, mon très cher trésor,
cette nuit !
