Aus den Knospen, die euch deckten,
  Süße Rosen, mein Entzücken,
    Lockte euch der heiße Süd;

Doch die Gluten, die euch weckten,
  Drohen jetzt, euch zu ersticken,
    Ach, ihr seid schon halb verglüht!

Und dem Freunde, dem erschreckten,
  Däucht, er muß euch eilig pflücken,
    Daß ihr nicht zu schnell verblüht!
