O wär' ich ein klarer Wiesenquell,
  Und du die Blume, die ihm nickte!

O wär' ich ein grüner Rosendorn
  Und du die Rose, die ihn schmückte!
O wär' ich ein süßes, süßes Korn,
  Und du der Vogel, der es pickte!
