L'eco
(Sung text for setting by A. Ponchielli)
 Matches original text

Language: Italian (Italiano)
Lento cavalca per valle ombrose un giovinciel!
"Vado tra dolci braccia amorose,
O vado invece nel cupo avel?"
L'eco risponde: "Nel cupo avel!"

Il suo cammino seguita mesto il giovinciel!
"Nell'avel dunque vado sì presto, or ben?
Che monta? La pace è in quel!"
L'eco risponde: "La pace è in quel!"

Cadon dall'occhio stille segrete al giovinciel!
"Ah! Se il solo avello mi dà quete,
Lieto vi scendo, dolce è l'avel!"
L'eco risponde: "dolce è l'avel!"
