O fragt mich nicht, warum ich weine;
wie könnt' ich euch verständlich sein?
Ihr ahnt, wie traurig ich auch scheine,
nicht allen Umfang meiner Pein.
Lasst meinen Schmerz allein mich tragen,
mein bleib' er ganz und ungeteilt;
ach, könnt' ich, was ich leide, sagen,
zur Hälfte wär' ich schon geheilt!
