Wie lieblich seine Stimme klingt,

Ich   [flieg' hinüber]2 über'n Rhein 
Und hinter deinem Liebsten d'rein, 
"Willst du mit, so komm'!" 

Es murmelt auch der Wiesenbach: 
"Willst du mit, so komm'!"  
Ich fließe deinem Liebsten nach, 
"Willst du mit, so komm'!"  
Erst in den Fluß und dann in's Meer, 
[Mich siehst du]3 nun und nimmermehr, 
"Willst du mit, so komm'!"  

Und droben aus der blauen Luft: 
"Willst du mit, so komm'!" 
Sogar die weiße Wolke ruft: 
"Willst du mit, so komm'!" 
[Ich ziehe schnell, ich ziehe]4 hoch,
