Wie lieblich seine Stimme klingt,

Ich   [flieg' hinüber]2 über'n Rhein 
Und hinter deinem Liebsten d'rein,

Es murmelt auch der Wiesenbach:

Ich fließe deinem Liebsten nach,

Erst in den Fluß und dann in's Meer,
