Zwei dreistimmige Chöre

Song Cycle by Heino Schubert (b. 1928)

1. Spielmann
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Frühlinge und Sommer steigen
Grün herauf und singen Lieder,
Schmücken bunt die Welt, und neigen
Müde sich zur Erde wieder.

Träumend aus dem Kranz der Tage
Grüßen flüchtig helle Stunden
Mir herauf wie schöne Sage,
Lächeln, leuchten, sind verschwunden.

Schauernd in der Tage Wende,
Mag auch Gold und Liebe winken,
Lassen traurig meine Hände
Die geschmückte Leier sinken.

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Spielmann", written 1900, appears in Neue deutsche Lyriker III , in An die Schönheit, first published 1919

2. Dorfabend
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Schäfer mit den Schafen
Zieht durch die stillen Gassen ein,
Die Häuser wollen schlafen
Und dämmern schon und nicken ein.

Ich bin in diesen Mauern
Der einzige fremde Mann zur Stund,
Es trinkt mein Herz mit Trauern
Den Kelch der Sehnsucht bis zum Grund.

Wohin der Weg mich führet,
Hat überall ein Herd gebrannt;
Nur ich hab nie gespüret,
Was Heimat ist und Vaterland.

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Dorfabend", subtitle: "(1897)", written 1897
