In der Sonnengasse zu St. Goar,
Da kämmt sich die Resi ihr schwarzes Haar,
Sie lacht in den Spiegel verstohlenen Blicks,
Silbern über ihrem Bette hängt ein Cruzifix,
Ihr Pantöffelchen klappert, ihr Schnürleib kracht:
  Heute Nacht! Heute Nacht!

In der Sonnengasse zu St. Goar,
Da wohnt ihr schrägüber ein junger Scholar,
Der pfropft sich in den Schädel lauter dummes Zeug,
Schwarz auf seinem Pulte liegt der Pentateuch,
Da streift ihn die Sonne und sein Leder kracht:
  Heute Nacht! Heute Nacht!

Der aß ganz ungewöhnlich viel,
Drum ward er täglich dicker.

Jedoch dem Herrn von Bombardil 
Dies Dickerwerden sehr gefiel:
Er ward mit Freuden dicker.

Einst sprach der Arzt:"Herr Bombardil,
Sie dürfen wirklich nicht mehr viel
Noch fürder werden dicker."

Da lachte Herr von Bombardil
Und aß nun grad noch mal so viel:
"Ich werde doch noch dicker."

Da platzte Herr von Bombardil.
Und als er in die Grube fiel:
Die Maden wurden dicker.
