1. The bouquet that I have picked
Language: English
The bouquet that I have picked,
let it greet you a thousand times!
I have often bent down,
ah, well over a thousand times,
and pressed it to my heart -
maybe even a hundred thousand times!

2. Sommerfäden  [sung text not yet checked]
by Franz Milcke , "Sommerfäden", op. 8 (Zwei Gedichte für 1 Singstimme mit Pianofortebegleitung) no. 2, published 1889 [ voice and piano ], Berlin, Ries & Erler
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mädchen, sieh, am Wiesenhange,
Wo wir oft gewandelt sind,
Sommerfäden, leichte, lange,
Gaukeln hin im Abendwind.

Deine Worte, [leicht]1 und munter
Flattern in die kühle Luft;
Keines mehr, wie sonst, hinunter
In des Herzens Tiefe ruft.

Künden mir die Sommerfäden,
Daß der Sommer welk und alt,
[Merk ich es]2 an deinen Reden,
Mädchen, daß dein Herz wird kalt!

Text Authorship:

  • by Nikolaus Lenau (1802 - 1850), "Sommerfäden", appears in Gedichte, in 1. Erstes Buch, in Herbst
