Der, wie das Schiff vorübergeht,
Es wohl zu [fahren]1 heißt.

"Sieh, diese [Senne]2 war so stark,

Die Knochen voll von Rittermark,
Der Becher angefüllt;

"Mein halbes Leben stürmt' ich fort,
Verdehnt' die Hälft' in Ruh,

A dalt de l’antiga torre s’està
el noble esperit d’un heroi
que, quan un vaixell passa pel davant,
li desitja bon viatge.

“Guaita, aquests muscles eren ben forts,
aquest cor ben ferm i fogós,
els ossos farcits de moll cavalleresc,
la copa sempre ben plena;

la meitat de la meva vida l’he passat
batallant i l’altra meitat en pau
i tu, petit vaixell dels homes,
navega per sempre, sense parar!”

Note: in many older editions, the spelling of the capitalized word "über" becomes "Ueber", but this is often due to the printing process and not to rules of orthography, since the lower-case version is not "ueber", so we use "Über".
