1. Frühlingsbotschaft
by Carl Heinrich Adolf Reiss (1829 - 1908), "Frühlingsbotschaft", op. 4 (Drei Lieder von August von Platen) no. 3 [ voice and piano ]

Like a marriage suitor Spring advanced along the forest and lake, advanced with singing and music, but I was so fearful while snow was still lying on the ground. And Spring invited guests to join him, but he did not invite me, he saw me, alas!, captivated, I hung on those cheeks, on that face. Now I am free, now Spring comes, now at last I enjoy it fully, even if more calmly and quietly, the brooks’ green luster, the roses’ fresh radiance.
