  Mein Herz, du mußt dich fügen,
Ja fügen!
Die Bäume, die im Grunde stehn,
Sie können doch zum Himmel sehn,
Wo helle Wolken fröhlich wehn
In freien Zügen.

  Und steh' ich noch so ferne,
Ja ferne!
Der Wolken Zug, des Himmels Schein,
Sie müssen doch mein eigen sein,
Es leuchten doch ins Thal hinein
Die höchsten Sterne.

  Es ist so Gottes Wille,
Ja Wille!
Ob mich die Welt vergessen mag,
Doch schlägst du Herz mit hellem Schlag, 
Ich warte doch auf meinen Tag 
Hier in der Stille!

The trees that stand in the valley,
They can nevertheless look up toward the sky,
Where bright clouds waft joyfully
In free movements.

  And though I stand so far away,
Yes, far away!
The scudding of the clouds, the radiance of sky,
They must nevertheless belong to me,
For the highest stars do indeed shine
Into the valley.

  Thus is God's will,
Yes, will!
Though the world may forget me,
You, my heart, nevertheless beat with a bright pulsing,
I wait for my day after all
Here in the stillness!
