1. Die Gestirne  [sung text not yet checked]
by Max Stange (1856 - 1932), "Die Gestirne", op. 103 (Vier Männerchöre) no. 1 [ four-part men's chorus a cappella ], Magdeburg: Heinrichshofen's Verlag

1. The stars
Language: English
How they circle above in such heavenly peace, [Making] no sound that would ever reach us; They move along their tranquil, eternally quiet, Mysterious, wondrous path. The winds roar forth from the farthest distance, Messengers of the universe, they fly hither and thither; But from the realm of the stars they bring Not a single tone that would be perceptible to us. The intent listening of our ears is in vain, Only the spirit can overcome space and time And to the spirit in the mute soughing of the spheres Sounds the thunderous cry of the universe: Infinitude!
