Und sehe dich freundlich grüßen,
Und laut aufweinend stürz' ich mich
Zu deinen süßen Füßen.

Du [siehst]1 mich an wehmütiglich
Und schüttelst das blonde Köpfchen;
Aus deinen Augen [schleichen sich  
Die Perlentränentröpfchen]2.

Du [sagst]3 mir heimlich ein leises Wort
Und gibst mir den Strauß von Zypressen.
Ich wache auf, und der Strauß ist fort,
[Und das]4 Wort hab' ich vergessen.

y te veo saludarme amable,
y sollozando me lanzo
a tus dulces pies.

Me miras, melancólica,
y sacudes la rubia cabecita;
de tus ojos se desprenden
las perlas de tus lágrimas.

Me dices en secreto una palabra,
y me das una rama de ciprés:
me despierto, y la rama ya no está,
y he olvidado la palabra.
