i reposa al meu cor;
que lluny a l’estranger, el meu cor
sigui la teva pàtria i la teva casa paterna.

Si tu no fuges amb mi, aleshores jo moriré aquí
i tu et quedaràs tota sola;
i encara que romanguis a la casa del pare,
serà com si visquessis en terra estrangera.

Ein Jüngling hatte ein Mädchen lieb,

Es [wußt']4 weder Vater noch Mutter.

Sie sind gewandert hin und her,

Confirmed with Neue Gedichte von Heinrich Heine, Zehnte Auflage, Hamburg, Hoffmann und Campe, 1871, page 151. Below the number at the top of the text are the following words: "(Dieses ist ein wirkliches Volkslied, welches ich am Rheine gehört.)" which can be translated "This is a real folksong that I heard on the Rhein". See also Backer-Grøndahl's song, which uses some of this text.

caigué damunt les delicades flors blaves:
i elles es marciren i s’assecaren.

Un jovencell estimava una donzella;
d’amagat, fugiren de casa
sense que el pare i la mare ho sabessin.

Erraren d’una banda a l’altra,
ells tingueren mala sort,
s’arruïnaren i moriren.

damunt del que xiulen els ocells i el vent de ponent,
i dessota, a l’herba verda, seuen
el mosso del moliner i la seva estimada.

El vent bufa tan suau i tan sinistre,
els ocells canten tan dolçament i tan tristos:
els garlaires enamorats callen de sobte,
es posen a plorar i no saben per què.
