Die Kapelle

Was schimmert dort auf dem Berge so schön,
wenn die Sternlein hoch [am]1 Himmel aufgeh'n?
Das ist die Kapelle still und klein,
sie ladet den Pilger zum Beten ein.

Was tönet in der Kapelle zur Nacht
so feierlich ernst, in ruhiger Pracht?
Das ist der Brüder geweihter Chor,
die Andacht hebt sie zum Herrn empor.

Was hallet und klinget so wunderbar
vom Berge herab so tief und klar?
Das ist das Glöcklein, das in die Gruft
am frühen Morgen den Pilger ruft.
