Сумрак тихий, сумрак тайный,
Друг, давно знакомый мне,
Безначальный и бескрайный,
Призрак, зыблющий туманы,
Вышел в лес и на поляны,
Что-то шепчет тишине.
 
Не слова ль молитвы старой,
Древней, как сама земля?
И опять, под вечной чарой,
Стали призрачной химерой
Скудный лог, орешник серый,
Зашоссейные поля.
 
Давний, вечный сон столетий,
В свете звёзд, опять возник:
И вся жизнь — лишь ветви эти
Мир — клочок росистый луга,
Где уста нашли друг друга,
Вечность — этот тёмный миг!
