Печальны песни так его?...

Day and night sings above it;
But the rose listens silently...
An innocent dream envelops her...
In that way a poet with his lyre
Sings for a young maiden;
He burns with scorching passion
But the dear maiden knows not —
To whom does he sing? Why are
his songs so full of melancholy?
