Jetzt wird sie wohl im Garten gehen,
Der blüht und glüht im Sonnenlicht,
Und in die Ferne wird sie spähen,
Mich aber, ach, mich sieht sie nicht.

Und eine Rose wird sie brechen
Mit stummer Wehmuth im Gesicht,
Und meinen Namen wird sie sprechen.
Ich aber, ach, ich hör' es nicht!
