Durch das Gebirge hin,
Ich zöge dann so gerne
Wohl in die blaue Ferne
Zu einer Jägerin.

  Im dunklen Tannenwalde,
Da steht des Försters Haus,
Im tiefen Wald verborgen.
Da schaut am frühen Morgen
Das Töchterlein heraus.

  Der Vater und die Tochter,
Die machen Alles wund,
Der Vater schießt die Hirschlein,
Die Tochter trifft die Bürschlein
Tief in des Herzens Grund.

À travers les montagnes,
J'aimerais le suivre
Dans les lointains bleus
Jusqu'à une chasseuse.

Dans la sombre forêt de pins,
Se dresse la maison du garde forestier,
Cachée dans la forêt profonde.
Là, tôt le matin,
Sa jeune fille regarde dehors.

Le père et sa fille,
Peuvent blesser tous les deux.
Le père tire sur le jeune cerf,
La fille frappe le jeune homme
Au plus profond du cœur.
