Jünglingswonne
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG
So lang' im deutschen Eichenthale,
Natur! dein hehrer Schauer webt,
Und, bei des Mondes Geisterstrale,
Der Adler Wodans mich umschwebt;

So lang' in der Erwählten Blicken
Mir tausend Himmel offen stehn,
Und, mit vergötterndem Entzücken,
Wir Arm in Arm durchs Leben gehn;

So lang', in wackrer Brüder Kreise,
Der Bundeskelch zur Weihe klingt,
Und jeder, nach der Ahnherrn Weise,
In Tells und Hermanns Jubel singt:

Will ich den Gram den Winden geben,
Selbst Augenblicken Kränze weihn,
Und noch, wo Todesengel schweben,
Den Pfad mit Rosen mir bestreun!

Wat een jongeman leuk vindt
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Zolang in Duitse eikendalen,
Natuur, jij schroom en huiver weeft,
En in de held're manestralen
Nog Wodans arend mij omzweeft,

Zolang in mijn geliefdes blikken
Mij duizend hemels openstaan,
En in vergodd'lijkend verrukken
Wij arm in arm door 't leven gaan,

Zolang nog onder wakk're broeders
De bondsbokaal ten toost opklinkt
En iedereen -- tradities hoeders -
Nog Tells en Hermanns lof meezingt,

Zal ik 't chagrijn de wind meegeven;
Zelfs ogenblikken sieren gaan,
En ook, waar stervenseng'len zweven,
Nog rozen strooien op mijn baan.
