  Der Strauß auf meinem Hut,
Von wem auch könnt' er anders sein,
  Als von der Allerliebsten,
    Die mein gedenken thut?

Und wenn ich auf dem Berge steh',
  Schau ich mich um nach ihr,
Und werf mein Hütlein in die Höh mit rothen, rothen Röslein,
  O du mein süß Herzliebchen,
    Ich wollt' ich wär bei Dir!

And when I stand upon the mountain
