Bacchanale de Sardanapale
 (Sung text for setting by G. Alary)
 See base text
Language: French (Français)  after the Italian (Italiano)
Verse encore, verse toujours
La liqueur transparente,
Et vidons la coupe enivrante
Enchantant nos amours.

Ah ! Laissons aux rêveurs leurs sombres présages ;
Aux sages laissons leurs tristes discours.
Sans souci du Ciel et des orages,
Fêtons sans cesse nos beaux jours !

Myra, de tes grands yeux,
Quand l'ardente flamme,
Comme un éclair des cieux,
Vient briller au fond de mon äme,
Je crois dans mon orgueil être l'égal des Dieux !

Verse encore, verse toujours
La liqueur transparente,
Et vidons la coupe enivrante
Enchantant nos amours.

Ah ! Laissons aux rêveurs leurs sombres présages ;
Aux sages laissons leurs tristes discours.
Sans souci du Ciel et des orages,
Fêtons sans cesse nos beaux jours !
