Doch es erhebt der Haine Lied,
Die Au, die tausendfarbig blüht,
Der Erlenbach im Abendlicht
Wie vormals meine Seele nicht!

El sol surt, el sol es pon,
el disc canviant de la lluna resplendeix,
el blau de l’èter s’entrellaça amb l’esclat
de l’àuria dansa dels estels:
però ni la llum del sol,
ni el rostre somrient de la lluna,
ni la dansa dels estels, silent i sublim,
ja no omplen aquest cor amb entusiasme!
La prada floreix, el verd del matossar
ressona amb melodies primaverals,
el rierol borbolla a la llum del capvespre,
cap a baix, vers la vall coronada de boscatges:
però el cant dels boscos,
la prada que floreix amb mil colors,
el rierol entre la verneda a la llum del capvespre,
ja no enalteixen la meva ànima com abans!
