    Set to music by Nicola Vaccaj (1790 - 1848), "La scala", stanza 1, from Metodo pratico di Canto Italiano, no. 1, note: In questa prima lezione la divisione delle sillabe si stacca dall'ordinario onde dare, il piú possibile, idea del modo di pronunciare cantando; come consumare con la vocale il valore di una o piú note, ed unire la consonante con la sillaba seguente. Questo servirà di facilità anche per imparare il Canto legato, ciò che non si può ben insegnare se non che con la sola voce di un buon maestro
