Alles schläft! Nur silbern schallet
Marianens Stimme noch!
Gott! von welcher Regung wallet
Mein gepreßter Busen hoch!
Zwischen Wonn' und bangem Schmerz
Schwimmt mein liebekrankes Herz.
Schwind, o Erd'! und laß mich fliegen
Zu des Hochgelobten Thron;
Mich mit ihr im Staube liegen,
Seufzen mit in ihren Ton:
Gott, du hörst es, was sie fleht;
Acht' auch mit auf mein Gebet!
Daß ich lang um sie mich quäle,
Ist der Holden unbewust;
Send', o Gott, der frommen Seele,
Lieb' und Mitleid in die Brust!
Wär' ihr nur mein Leid bekannt,
Wär' auch meine Qual verbannt. --
Gott! ich seh den Himmel offen!
Freud und Leben winken mir!
Daß mein Herz darf wieder hoffen,
Dank ich Mariane, Dir.
Sing, und zaubr', o Sängerin,
Ganz ins Paradies mich hin!

Everything is sleeping! Only Mariane's voice
Still rings out silverily!
God! what emotion makes
My oppressed bosom swell!
My love-sick heart is floating
Between rapture and anxious pain.
Vanish, oh Earth and let Let me fly
To the throne of the highly-praised One;
To lay myself in the dust with her,
To sigh along with her tone:
God, Thou hearest that for which she pleads;
Take note as well of my prayer!
That I have long been in agonies because of her
Is unknown to the lovely one;
Send, oh God, love and sympathy
Into the breast of that pious soul,
If my suffering were only known to her,
My agonies would be banished as well. --
God! I see the Heavens opened!
Joy and life beckon to me!
That my heart may again hope
Is thanks to you, Mariane.
Sing, oh singer, and waft me
Magically into Paradise completely!
