Le soleil brûlait l'ombre, et la terre altérée
Au crépuscule errant demandait un peu d'eau ;
Chaque fleur de sa tête inclinait le fardeau
    Sur la montagne encor dorée.

Pas un enfant ne rôde aux vergers obscurcis,
Et dans tout ce grand calme et ces tons adoucis,
    Le moucheron pourrait s'entendre.
