Maria, die Gnadenmutter
 (Sung text for setting by Anonymous)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Wunderschön prächtige,
Hohe und mächtige
Liebreich holdselige, himmlische Frau,
Der ich mich ewiglich
Weihe herzinniglich,
Leib dir und Seele zu eigen vertrau'.
Gut, Blut und Leben
Will ich dir geben;
Alles, was immer ich hab', was ich bin,
Geb' ich mit Freuden, Maria dir hin.

 ...

Gottesgebärerin,
Heilandesnährerin
Mutter an Freuden und Schmerzen so reich;
Welche der Schuldigen
Wär' dir geduldigen
Mutter an Reinlichkeit, Tugend je gleich?
Du Gottgeweihte,
Hochbenedeite
Mutter und Jungfrau, du schuldlos allein,
Woll' eine Mutter uns Sündern auch sein.

Allzeit Sanftmüthige,
Milde, grundgütige,
Mutter des Heilands, voll Gnade und Huld,
Bitt' für uns sündige
Menschen, verkündige
Du uns vom Sohne Verzeihung der Schuld!
Steh', wenn wir scheiden,
Du uns zur Seiten,
Sühne den furchtbaren Richter uns du,
Führe dem göttlichen Sohne uns zu.

Note: the text above is taken from stanzas 1,4,5 of the original text.

Mary, the Mother of Mercy
 (Sung text translation for setting by Anonymous)
 See original
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Wondrously beautiful, magnificent,
High and powerful,
Lovingly fair, heavenly woman,
To whom in all eternity
I consecrate myself with all my heart,
I entrust my body and soul to Thy possession.
Goods, blood and life
I shall give Thee;
Everything, whatever I have, whatever I am,
I give unto thee, Mary, with joy.

 ...

Bearer of God,
Nurturer of the Lord,
Mother so rich in joys and pains;
Who of the transgressors
Would have ever been equal
To thee, patient Mother, in purity and righteousness?
Thou consecrated to God,
Highly blessed
Mother and Virgin, thou blameless alone,
Be Thou a mother as well to us sinners.

Always gentle,
Mild, utterly gracious,
Mother of the Lord, full of mercy and grace,
Plead for us sinful
People, deliver from the Son
Thou to us the Son's forgiveness of our transgressions!
Remain when we depart this life,
Thou at our side,
Placate the terrible judge on our behalf,
Lead us to the Son of God.
