Der Entfernten
 (Sung text for setting by F. Schubert)

Language: German (Deutsch)

Wohl denk' ich allenthalben,
O du Entfernte, dein!
Früh, wenn die Wolken falben,
Und spät im Sternenschein.
Im Grund des Morgengoldes,
Im rothen Abendlicht,
Umschwebst du mich, o holdes,
Geliebtes Traumgesicht!

Es folgt in alle Weite
Dein trautes Bild mir nach,
Es wallt mir stets zur Seite,
Im Träumen oder wach;
Wenn Lüfte sanft bestreifen
Der See beschilften Strand,
Umflüstern mich die Schleifen
Von seinem Busenband.

Aan de verre afwezige
 (Sung text translation for setting by F. Schubert)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Ik denk wel allerwegen
Aan jou, jouw ver gelaat!
Vroeg onder wolkenvegen,
Bij 't  sterrenschijnsel laat.
In 't goud van 't ochtendgloren,
In 't rode avondlicht,
Omzweef jij mij, bekorend,
Geliefde droomgezicht!

Mij volgt te allen tijde
Jouw beeld, zo lief en vroom,
Het gaat steeds aan mijn zijde,
Of ik nu waak of droom;
Als briesjes zachtjes spoken
Door 't riet aan de waterkant,
Omruisen mij de stroken
Zacht van haar boezemband.
