Wie deutlich des Mondes Licht
Zu mir spricht,
Mich beseelend zu der Reise:
"Folge treu dem alten Gleise,
Wähle keine Heimath nicht.
Ew'ge Plage
Bringen sonst die schweren Tage.
Fort zu andern
Sollst du wechseln, sollst du wandern,
Leicht entfliehend jeder Klage."

Sanfte Ebb' und hohe Fluth,
Tief im Muth,
Wandr' ich so im Dunkeln weiter,
Steige muthig, singe heiter,
Und die Welt erscheint mir gut.
Alles reine
Seh' ich mild im Wiederscheine,
Nichts verworren
In des Tages Gluth verdorren:
Froh umgeben, doch alleine.

El caminant
(Sung text translation for setting by F. Schubert)
 See original
Language: Catalan (Català)  after the German (Deutsch)
La llum de la lluna
em parla clarament
incitant-me al viatge:
“Segueix fidelment el vell sender,
no escullis cap pàtria.
altrament, turments sense fi
portaran els dies difícils.
Lluny, cap un altre lloc,
t’has de canviar, has de caminar
lleuger, fugint de tots els laments.”

Amb gentil reflux i marea alta
al fons de l’ànima,
segueixo caminant en la foscúria,
grimpo amb coratge, canto alegre,
i el món em sembla un bon lloc.
Veig tota la puresa
en el suau reflex,
res és confús
en la resseca xardor del dia:
estic envoltat de joia, però tot sol.
