Wie rein Gesang sich windet
Durch wunderbarer Saitenspiele Rauschen,
Er selbst sich wieder findet,
Wie auch die Weisen tauschen,
Daß neu entzückt die Hörer ewig lauschen:

So fließet mir gediegen
Die Silbermasse, schlangengleich gewunden,
Durch Büsche, die sich wiegen
Vom Zauber süß gebunden,
Weil sie im Spiegel neu sich selbst gefunden;

Wo Hügel sich so gerne
Und helle Wolken leise schwankend zeigen,
Wenn fern schon matte Sterne
Aus blauer Tiefe steigen,
Der Sonne trunkne Augen abwärts neigen.

So schimmern alle Wesen
Den Umriß nach im kindlichen Gemüthe,
Das zur Schönheit erlesen
Durch milder Götter Güte
In dem Krystall bewahrt die flücht'ge Blüthe.

Com un cant pur que s’entrellaça a través
del meravellós mormol del joc de les cordes,
es troba de nou ell mateix,
com també les melodies canvien, de forma que,
de nou encisats, els oïdors les escoltin eternament:

així flueix amb fermesa
la massa argentada, serpentejant,
a través dels matolls que es gronxen
dolçament, aferrats per l’encanteri
de retrobar-se ells mateixos en el reflex;

allà on de bon grat els tossals
i els núvols lluminosos es mostren vacil•lants
en silenci, quan al lluny, les pàl•lides estrelles
s’enlairen de les blaves fondàries
i el sol abaixa els seus ebris ulls.

Així resplendeixen tots els éssers,
com siluetes en un esperit infantívol
que, escollit per la seva bellesa,
per mitjà de la gentil bondat dels déus
conserva en el cristall la flor fugissera.
