Im stillen Kämmerlein,
Und schaute hinaus in den Frühling
Und der Frühling schaute herein.
Und wer den Weg gegangen,
Blieb grüßend stille stehn,
Von allen den Blumen des Frühlings
... die schönste Rose zu seh'n.
Die schickte freundlich lächelnd
Ein frühlingsduftend Wort;
Nun kann ich fürder nicht weiter,
Muss rasten hier fort und fort.

Stopped with a quiet greeting
In order to see of all the flowers of spring,
The loveliest rose ... .
She sent forth, smiling in a friendly manner,
A spring-scented word;
Now I cannot leave and go further,
Must rest here on and on.
