Se eten sin Metten
Un keemn in sin Betten:
Dar beten de Æs
Den Mann inne Nœs!

Herr im Hause
(Sung text for setting by I. Bronsart von Schellendorf)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Plattdeutsch
Der Mann wollte schlafen,
Der Kater wollte singen.
Da nahm er den Kater
Und warf ihn in's Wasser:
Ich will dir doch zeigen
Wer Herr ist im Hause!
Dann legt er sich nieder
Und schläft wie ein Pfahl.

Da kamen ganz leise
In Scheun' und Gehäuse
Und pfiffen so leise
Und nagten, die Mäuse,
Und leckten und schleckten
Auf Börtern, in Schränken,
Von Schüssel und Teller
Zu Boden und im Keller,
Sie aßen sein Speck,
Zerrissen seine Säck',
Sie aßen seine Metten
Und kamen in sein Betten:
Da bissen sie, schwabb!
Die Nase ihm ab!
