Quando negli ultimi bagliori della sera trascorre nell’aria una figura sorridente nel sentiero in mezzo al boschetto di querce, con un cenno e un saluto, è l’anima del più caro amico che ti promette gioia e pace. Quando nella luce crepuscolare della luna il tuo sogno di amore si abbellisce, tra le ginestre e gli abeti bianchi risuona un sussurro melodioso e un presentimento ti dilata il petto: è il mio spirito che ti abbraccia. Se senti, in un estatico abbandono dentro il magico paese del passato, il morbido contatto di un fantasma, il bacio di uno zefiro sulle labbra e sulla mano, e vacilla il lume tremolante della candela, è davvero il mio spirito, non dubitare! Se ascolti, sotto lo splendore argenteo delle stelle, nella cameretta appartata, sommessa come arpe eoliche in lontananza, la parola del nostro patto: tuo per sempre! allora assopisciti dolcemente: è il mio spirito che ti preannuncia gioia e pace.
